Archival Resources

If you are looking for something, there are various resources available about Marvin’s activities. Listed here are just a few of the many sources online.

Photos:

Marvin’s extensive photo archive has been digitized and placed with the Corning Museum of Glass Rakow Library for easy access by researchers. Find the front page here.

Archives:

Marvin kept virtually everything that crossed his path in the art world. We are happy to announce that the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art has acquired the archive, which includes nearly 47 linear feet of documents: calendars, letters, programs, sketchbooks, correspondence, travel diaries, technical files, etc. While they have yet to be digitized, they are available by request. Link here for more information.

Monograph:

Coinciding with his 2003 Retrospective, the Oakland Museum of California published a catalogue, “Marvin Lipofsky: A Glass Odyssey.” Purchase it here. If Amazon stock is unavailable, you may contact the studio directly.

Timeline:

A timeline is in the works. Marvin was incredibly active and it will take us some time to gather all the information coherently. But if you’d like to check on our progress, take a look here.
